Since 1 January 2026, Presidential Proclamation 10998 suspends new B-1/B-2, F, M and J visas for Nigerian nationals who were outside the US without a valid visa on that date, with limited exceptions. Visas issued before 1 January 2026 were not cancelled. Most non-immigrant visas issued to Nigerians since 8 July 2025 are single-entry and valid 3 months. The US Mission says not to pay the visa application (MRV) fee unless a consular officer tells you to. Reports say routine visa services moved to Consulate General Lagos from 1 August 2026.
